St James Quarter

St James Quarter is one of the UK’s leading retail, leisure and residential destinations, located in the heart of Edinburgh city centre. Opened in 2021, the development has redefined the former St James Centre into a landmark, crescent-shaped scheme, characterised by its distinctive glass roof and contemporary architectural design.
Situated within one of the UK’s most dynamic cities, St James Quarter ranks among Europe’s highest-footfall retail destinations, reflecting its strong consumer appeal, central location and regional draw. Spanning approximately 80,300 sqm across four key levels, the destination brings together around 100 retail, dining and leisure brands. The offer is complemented by international apparel brands, the latest beauty offering, a Scottish food marketplace and premium entertainment, including an Everyman Cinema and the Lane 7 leisure venue, creating a vibrant, all-day experience.
The wider development integrates a high-quality residential and hospitality offering, including 152 premium apartments across three buildings and two hotels. Co-located on the site is W Edinburgh, Scotland’s first W-branded hotel, featuring a rooftop bar with panoramic views across the city. St James Quarter has established itself as Edinburgh’s leading retail and dining destination, within what is widely regarded as one of the UK’s most productive retail markets.
Since 2025, the asset has been part-owned and fully operated by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. The destination was rebranded Westfield St James Quarter in H2 2026, becoming the third Westfield location in the UK, alongside Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City. This reflects URW’s strategy of focusing on high-quality, flagship assets in major cities, creating long-term value for retailers, communities and the Group.
