Getting real in Munich

#Group News
From October 7 to 9, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield was in Munich for the 2019 edition of EXPO REAL – Europe's largest real estate and investment trade fair. Retailers, developers, cities and investors from all around the world gather each year at EXPO REAL to connect, discuss and work together to build the cities of tomorrow. With more than 46,000 participants from 76 countries, the 2019 edition was the biggest and most international ever!

As the premier global developer and operator of flagship destinations, we contributed to the discussion about the future of the real estate industry, demonstrating once again our leadership and how much we value our role as urban developers.

More than 80 Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield team members travelled to Munich this year to welcome visitors at our dedicated stand and make use of the extensive opportunities for market orientation and exploration. The ideal setting to work, network, and share insights on the latest industry news, the Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield booth featured a special VR experience and showcased Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, one of the major and most innovative mixed-use districts in Europe.

On Monday, Astrid Panosyan (Group Chief Resources Officer, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield) participated in the opening panel at EXPO REAL FORUM on "Who is the city for? Making cities work for all." We made use of this opportunity to present our vision and how we participate in shaping and improving the cities in which we operate by creating sustainable places that integrate everyday life features.

Later, 150 guests joined us at the Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield booth for an insightful panel talk on "Reinvent being together: how to shape the future of communities in a digital-driven world?" with Paul-Eric Perchaud (URW Director of Operations in Germany), Thomas Herr (CBRE), Tamy B. Ribeiro (Wunder Mobility) and Mary Roder (Zalando).

Tuesday's highlight was our official get-together, welcoming over 350 guests from across the globe. On this occasion, Andreas Hohlmann (URW Managing Director Germany) led a discussion on "Reinvent urban living: how to develop the inner cities of the future?" – with experts Daniel C. Grimm (International Workplace Group), Lars Richter (Union Investment Real Estate), Lothar Schubert (DC Developments) and Ulrich Wölfer (E.Breuninger).
