At Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, we and our partners are always seeking to find new entertainment offers for our guests to have the most memorable experiences. Two recent examples in the area: the Vodafone PLAYzone Arena just opened at Westfield Chodov, in Czech Republic, and ‘Port des Lumières’ is announced at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, our flagship destinations in Hamburg to be opened in 2024.

Esports launched at Westfield Chodov

Our Westfield Chodov destination is now home to an impressive 1,000 m2 esports centre, the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic and Slovakia! The Vodafone PLAYzone Arena is a project of the Prima Group and the PLAYzone agency. Here, visitors can watch the most sought-after esports events at the restaurant’s large LED screen, play themselves on one of almost 60 computers or even test high-end game simulators and virtual reality. The venue will also be used as a recording hub for shows and podcasts.

This perfectly aligns with URW’s objectives of reinventing being together and bringing people together. Moving forward, interesting tournaments and events are already being planned for the enjoyment of the budding clientele, and options are available for the organisation of corporate gatherings and marketing activations.

Bringing Light Art to Hamburg

‘Port des Lumières’ will soon be lighting up Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier! Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Germany has signed a new partnership with Culturespaces to open an immersive digital art center ‘Port des Lumières' at the destination, our mixed-used development project in Hamburg set to open in 2024.

Previously based in Paris, Jeju Island, Bordeaux, Baux-de-Provence, and Dubai, we are excited to bring this cultural highlight of the digital revolution to Hamburg! Port des Lumières will be a 3,100 m2 cultural site open to the general public, offering short programs and long-term digital exhibitions fully immersing visitors in the works of the greatest names in art history.

In the immersive exhibitions, visitors can experience Paul Cézanne's or Vincent van Gogh's post-impressionist masterpieces, see Gustav Klimt's Kiss in large format or immerse themselves in the abstract world of Wassily Kandinsky. Art is brought to life through projections onto the floor and onto walls more than ten metres high, made possible thanks to an impressive technical setup of 60 speakers and more than 100 projectors transmitting 3,000 moving images per second on a 3,120 m² projectable surface.

In partnership with our stakeholders, we look forward to bringing more innovative experiences to our guests around the world.
