Using innovation to encourage creativity



Innovation is at the heart of the Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s organisation and culture. Multiple opportunities are offered to the Group’s team members to foster innovation:

  • "Innovation Champion Graduate Programme": Group employees in Continental Europe have the opportunity to dedicate 20% of their working time to innovative initiatives
  • The Mixer : a 900m² co-working hub at the Group’s headquarters in Paris, hosting the Group’s innovation incubator, URW Lab, as well as other internal teams and external partners
  • Creativity rooms
  • Keynotes by inspiring speakers
  • Learning expeditions
  • Mentoring start-ups with URW Link, the Group’s start-up accelerator in Continental Europe
  • "Innovation Ambassadors": regional contacts who organise innovation events for colleagues



Innovation is key for a company like Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. To be competitive, we have to stay ahead of the trends and be open to new ideas. Innovation is a state of mind and I am convinced that everyone is able to and should contribute to it. In my day-to-day missions, I strive to integrate as many innovative concepts as possible in the redevelopment project of Mall of the Netherlands. As an Innovation Ambassador for my region, I am spreading the Group’s innovation mindset through initiatives, like the annual Innovation Day. The first results in the Dutch region are becoming visible. It’s really rewarding to see this progress and new concepts emerging!
