URW Community day: All involved for communities!
Supporting the communities where we operate is at the heart of what we do. Our employees around the world regularly dedicate their time and expertise to help our communities through a range of volunteering activities. And we have been doing it for many years now.
This year, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield demonstrates once again the strength of its teams and its engagement to create more inclusive communities with the first ever URW Community Day!
Leveraging on the strength of our newly formed Group, all employees have the opportunity to get involved to support local non-profit organisations (charities, hospitals, etc.) near our shopping centres. During the week of May 20 to 24, each country where we operate will organise a full day when all employees are involved: the URW Community Day. These days will take place in the following dates:
- May 20 in Austria
- Mai 21 in France
- May 22 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia
- May 23 in the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Italy
- May 24 in Sweden, Denmark, Poland, Spain and Germany.
In total, more than 2030 employees from 13 countries will donate their time this week in support of 89 initiatives, alongside our 78 non-profit our public partners. According to the organisations’ needs, the teams will help renovate a place, clean a natural area, or run an activity/event.
This week of local involvement is part of the global URW Volunteering Programme launched by the Group to allow all employees to participate in one or more of its social initiatives, including URW for Jobs and other social actions such as the STEMbassadors programme in the UK or the Veterans initiative in the US.
In 2018, 1,439 Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield volunteers gave their time, energy and expertise to support communities in and around more than 50 of our assets. Either by helping people cut off from the job market find an employment or by assisting non-profit organisations to accomplish their missions (space improvement, biodiversity, urban gardening, etc.), we are committed to make more sustainable communities.
